About Ian Bishop

Ian has been involved in Wind music for over 30 years, starting as a beginning trombone player in the Queensland School Instrumental Music program. He was fortunate enough to become a member of the Brisbane Citizens Band (now the St John Ambulance Concert Band), and spent many years performing in park concerts, Anzac Day parades, and other events. After completing high school, Ian attended the Queensland University of Technology, completing a Bachelor of Arts (Music) and Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary). Performances encompassed solo, trombone ensemble, brass choir, wind symphony and big band, as well as conducting skills. He also spent time as a member of the Queensland Youth Big Band and Australian Wind Orchestras, and was privileged to perform in Australia, Taiwan and Singapore with these groups. After teaching for several years, Ian began an Information Technology career, and has spent the past 15 years working for Internet Providers and major I.T. vendors. Although no longer a regular performer, Ian still enjoys playing, and while based in Sydney, performed several times with the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Throughout his musical career, Ian has made use of high-quality recordings, in order to experience the excellence of the finest ensembles in the world, and to both model and assess his playing against their example. Now based in Ballarat, Ian hopes to help spread his love of fine music by bringing the finest wind recordings into the Australasian market, and making them accessible to the next generation of young, aspiring musicians, as well as experienced performers.

By building alliances with the finest producers of Wind and Orchestral recordings in the world, starting with Mark Custom Recording Services, Ian is confident he can deliver on your requirements.
